About this policy

This policy explains what personal data Crops Corner collects when you use the website at cropscorner.com and the Crops Corner app, why we collect it, who can see it, and the choices you have. It should be read with our Terms and conditions. We handle personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

• Account details — your mobile number, your name if you add one, your profile photo if you add one, and whether you buy, sell or both. If you set a PIN, we keep only a scrambled (hashed) form of it, never the PIN itself.
• Sign-in codes — the one-time codes sent to verify your mobile number, with when they were used and when they expire.
• Location — the area you choose to shop in: your district, an address you search for, or your device's precise location if you allow it. We use this to show produce near you and its distance. If you save addresses, we keep those too.
• Farm and pickup locations — for farmers: the name, address and map position of your farms and pickup points, and our team's review notes, including from any farm visit.
• Listings and photos — what farmers list: produce, prices, quantities, dates and photos. We remove all hidden information from uploaded photos, including GPS location, before storing them.
• Orders, asks and offers — what you book or ask for, quantities, dates, the pickup or delivery choice, order status changes, and the ratings you give.
• Complaints and messages — complaints you raise and the messages exchanged about them, and the notifications we send you.
• Activity — listings you view, save or reveal a farmer's contact for, and farmers you follow. We use this for features like "trending" and to show farmers how their listings are doing.
• Device and connection — your IP address, the browser and device type you use, and when you were last active. This keeps your sign-in working and helps us spot misuse.
• Change history — for important records (like listings, orders and accounts), who changed what and when. This helps us resolve disputes and investigate misuse.

What we don't collect

• We don't receive or store your Aadhaar number. The number you type when verifying stays on your device.
• We don't collect or store bank, card or UPI details. Payment for orders happens directly between buyer and farmer.
• We don't use advertising or third-party analytics trackers on the website or in the app.

How we use it

We use your data to:

• create your account, verify your mobile number and keep you signed in;
• show you produce, asks and farmers near you;
• let buyers and farmers arrange orders, and send you updates about them;
• review farmers and farm locations before they can sell;
• handle complaints, prevent fraud and misuse, and enforce our terms;
• understand how Crops Corner is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it;
• meet our legal obligations.

We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who can see what

• Anyone, including people not signed in, can see listings: the produce, price, photos, the farmer's name and roughly how far away it is.
• Signed-in buyers who have verified their mobile number can see a farmer's mobile number and farm location, to arrange an order.
• Farmers see the name, mobile number and photo of a buyer whose booking they're handling, and of customers whose open asks are in their district.
• Our team (admins) can see account, listing, order and complaint information so they can run Crops Corner, review farmers and resolve problems.
• Authorities — we may share data where the law requires it, or to protect people's safety.

Services we rely on

• Hosting — Crops Corner runs on a cloud server we rent. The provider stores our data but doesn't use it for its own purposes.
• Address search — when you search for an address, the text you type (or the map position you pick) is sent to Photon, a public address-search service, to find the place.
• Maps — map images come from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address and the map area being shown, like any website you load.
• Directions — if you tap a button to open a location in Google Maps, Google receives that location under its own privacy policy.

Road distances are worked out on our own server, so your location isn't sent anywhere else for that.

Browser storage

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The app keeps your sign-in in your browser's storage so you stay signed in, and this website remembers your light or dark theme choice there. You can clear these at any time in your browser's settings; you'll simply be signed out, or see the default theme.

How long we keep it

• Account, listing and order data is kept while your account is open, and for as long afterwards as needed to resolve disputes or meet legal obligations.
• The change history is kept for one year, then deleted.
• Sign-in codes stop working after a few minutes.

If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except what we must keep by law or to settle an open complaint.

Keeping it safe

All traffic to cropscorner.com is encrypted with HTTPS. PINs and session tokens are stored only in hashed form, PINs and other secrets are kept out of the change history, and access to personal data is limited to what each person needs. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Your rights

You can:

• see and update most of your details yourself in the app, such as your name, photo, mobile number, addresses and locations;
• ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
• ask us to correct, complete or delete your data;
• withdraw consent, for example by turning off location access in your device settings, or by closing your account;
• nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you're unable to;
• raise a grievance with us, and if you're not satisfied, with the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

Crops Corner is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children; if you think a child has created an account, tell us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when what we collect or how we use it changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we'll tell you in the app about changes that significantly affect you.
